Welcome

We all struggle in life from time to time. It’s part of being human.

Sometimes this leads us to seek psychotherapy. Working with a psychotherapist can provide relief from suffering and help you to create needed change in your life. I am here to guide you through this process from a knowledgeable, nonjudgemental, and supportive position – the chair across from you.

About Me

Karey Wilson

Based on my psychotherapy training, style, and philosophy, my approach is psychodynamic and humanistic. My interest in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychology has led me to the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis (TICP), where I have been training to become a psychoanalyst since the fall of 2020.

In my work I assume that all effective psychotherapy rests on a developing and meaningful relationship between therapist and client. This relationship is fostered through my effort to deeply understand you over time, by listening to you with open, and highly trained, attention. Our relationship and your psychotherapy becomes a venue for your own unique and meaningful psychological experiences and functions to emerge. We explore them together, in ways that always keep in mind your own experience and what you want to derive from our work.

As a Psychological Associate and member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), I am qualified to practice Clinical Psychology with Adult clients. In order to achieve this license, I completed 4 years of practice post-MA under the supervision of members of the College, as well as a year of full-time Supervised Practice and College licensing exams. I am able to perform the controlled acts of Psychotherapy and Diagnosis, and count as "psychology" or "psychologist" for insurance purposes.

My studies have included graduate coursework in Multicultural and Diversity Counselling, Professional Ethics, and comprehensive training in Adult Psychological Assessment and Diagnosis. In 2020, I completed a certificate program in the Essentials of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
